Montreal's Nymphet's deliver at NXNE but got screwed on their time slot.

It's funny, there's one thing going through my head every time I see The Nymphets live: Seeing them on the street you'd never expect the members to be in a punk band. I know this might sound odd, but they look like incredibly nice people instead of stereotypical punks. However, as soon as they blast into their first song, you know they're there to knock you straight on your ass.

With true punk attitude seeping from each song, The Nymphets power through a short set with faces forward and staring. They aren't here to impress anyone - they know there are a ton of bands out there that would kill to have as much genuine punk spirit as they do. They simply play their songs and anticipate the audience knows what to expect.

As many festival-goers come in and out of The Bovine, the members remain unfazed and focus on the music. Barely taking a breath between songs, the Nymphets have an intensity that rises to a strange degree until they throw down their instruments signaling the end of the set. Unfortunately, the majority in the bar don't even notice.

A 9 p.m. start is clearly too early for a band of this intensity, and the crowd feels it. This is a huge scheduling faux pas for NXNE - I'm betting if they played at 11 or 12 it would have been an all out riot.
