New Records Deal for Kings of Leon?

New Record Deal for Kings Of Leon?

Kings of Leon have been a source of much internet speculation the past few days, as rumour spread that they had left Columbia Records to sign a new deal with Warner Brothers. The deal would have them paying for half of their recording costs which would in turn give them more control on recording and a larger profit share. A source told The Sun, "Kings of Leon are one of the few bands on the planet who have enough heft to negotiate such a favourable deal." Not surprisingly, Kings' drummer Nathan Followill posted a message on Twitter yesterday (Jan. 24), debunking the whole thing, saying, "We are happy where we are now let's get drunk." Glad to have that cleared up.

New Jane's Addiction

Jane's Addiction reunited back in 2008 but fighting within the band and has kept them out of the studio—until now. The band got back together after Trent Reznor added them to his ‘08 tour. Jane's had started recording but head-butting between the musicians has prevented them from releasing anything that they all agree on. Until now. Perry Ferrell announced on the band's Facebook page that they've re-entered the studio to work on new music. "I'm very patient, because it's only been, what, eighteen years, so I can't expect things overnight to be perfect." If successful, it will be Jane's Addiction's first new material in seven years.

Canadian Stars for Haiti

On Friday night (Jan 22), many of Canada's best-known artists came together for the Canada for Haiti telethon and viewers responded big, donating 2.5 million dollars during the one hour show and $9.4 million before the night was over. The telethon was broadcast across CBC, CTV and Global networks and featured some amazing acoustic performances by K'Naan, Metric, Nelly Furtado, and The Tragically Hip, plus pre-recorded messages from Canadian celebrities, including Micheal J. Fox and Rachel McAdams. The Canadian government pledged to match all funds raised, putting the grand total at almost $19 million, which is to be donated to ten Canadian charities; for more info on how you can help, visit www.Canadaforhaiti.com.
