A Tour and a New Album for the The Flaming Lips!!
Okay everyone, break out your animal costumes and start jumping up and down! Our favourite Oklahoma rockers are back with a summer tour and a new album slated to be released later this year. Unfortunately, they aren't planning any stops in Canada, but The Flaming Lips will be appearing at festivals throughout Europe, Japan and the United States until August, according to billboard.com. And as a bonus: for those who buy their concert tickets online, The Lips are offering a digital EP of three new songs from their upcoming double album, Embryonic, as well as three digital B-side tracks from their magic vault. This will be the band's first new offering since 2006's At War with the Mystics (I'm choosing to forget Christmas on Mars) and I, for one, am very excited.
Senior Citizens reviewing The Fiery Furnaces?
Breakfast at Sulimay's is a web series starring three senior citizens from Philadelphia who sit around a diner and review indie music. Intrigued? Pitchfork.com was kind enough to post a recent video of group member Joe Walker interviewing The Fiery Furnaces, who are notorious for their odd but heartfelt rock style. The result is a funny, touching and informative interview. Follow their exploits on their YouTube channel, Woodshop Films.
Madonna and Paul Oakenfold Are At It Again...
According to madonna.com, DJ Paul Oakenfold will be appearing as a special guest at several upcoming shows for the singer's ongoing Sticky & Sweet tour. Oakenfold has worked with Madonna on a number of her more dance-y tracks in recent years (including "Give it 2 Me" from Hard Candy) and is currently collaborating with her on bonus material for her upcoming greatest hits album. Dying to hear a sneak preview? Us neither. Here it is anyway...
