Lily Allen Quitting Music?
It doesn't seem likely, with only two albums to her credit and a slew of awards and chart-topping singles. But last week, several different sources reported that Lily Allen wrote on her blog, "Just so you know, I have not renegotiated my record contract and have no plans to make another record (applause)". A spokesperson for the British singer denied these reports. Allen's most recent blog posts are announcing tour dates, as well as denouncing people who download music as they are making it impossible for small artists to make a living. We get her argument, but come on Lily! Quitters never win and winners never quit!
Black Lips and Wavves in a Drunken Brawl
Apparently, the guys from rival punk bands Black Lips and Wavves don't like each other very much. So much so, that Pitchfork is reporting they got into a bit of a tussle on Friday night (Sept 25). The details are fuzzy, but witnesses are claiming that Nathan Williams (singer for Wavves) attacked Jared Swilley (bassist for Black Lips) outside a New York bar. Williams claims Swilley confronted him without provocation, and said in a statement, "It was unfortunate that it escalated to that point but he got what was coming to him." Swilley, however, claims "Wavves was NOT involved in that fight", and that he was instead beaten up by six other guys. Then he uses some ugly insults we won't repeat here... This is just the latest incident between the two groups, and with Swilley threatening that "we're gonna get crazy on em'. Nasty style", it's unlikely we've heard the last of it.
Morrissey to Tour New Album
Morrissey, former frontman of The Smiths, will be touring Western Europe (and doing a few shows in the U.S.) from October to December to support his new b-sides compilation Swords (see the tour schedule here). The album is set to be released October 26 in the UK and November 3 in the U.S. A deluxe edition will also be available, featuring a disc of live performances and one Smiths track.
Guns n' Roses are Hitting Asia
Vague details of a tour of Southeast Asia have been trickling out of the Guns n' Roses camp recently, and while we still don't know the scope of the tour, a few dates have been announced for December. According to Rolling Stone, the first show is scheduled for December 11 in Taiwan, followed by one in Korea and two in Japan. There are also apparently rumours of a couple of shows in India, but nothing has been confirmed. It's been a year since Chinese Democracy was released, so really, it's about time.
