The work of Andy Warhol has perhaps permeated popular culture more than any other artist in the 20th century. The use of striking and repetitive imagery captured the formulaic and hypnotic essence of capitalism, commercialism and the mass media, subtly revealing the effects of overexposure on the collective psyche. The Beautiful South, meanwhile, made music your middle-aged dad thought was edgy. Henceforth, quite what Andy Warhol's iconic Campbell soup is trying to say about the greatest hits of the Beautiful South - other than the fact they are mass produced both physically and by their nature - is unclear.
