Soldiers Under Command by Stryper
Although it could be claimed that there has never been another band quite like Stryper, the glam costume image, as espoused on their second album, Soldiers Under Command, could not be further removed from their hairspray and costume wearing 1980s contemporaries. As the likes of Motley Crew set new records and levels of excess, Stryper set new records of un-edgy temperance thanks to their uber-evangelical Christian outlook, which somehow gets lost amongst the resplendent bumblebee spandex and big hair. As any sly marketer would explain "God doesn't sell", which is probably why Stryker allowed themselves to be paraded like a gay version of Kiss when all they really wanted to say was "Jesus loves you".
