February 16, 2010 – London, United Kingdom

On our side of the pond here in Blighty, the awards so good we named our Isles after them are getting ready to celebrate the big three-oh. However, as the BRITs enter middle age, will the nominees get increasingly Radio Two friendly or will the ceremony try to cling to its youth like a paunchy lorry driver with an ill-advised mullet? That's left to be seen, but previews promise a performance from our favourite chavvy little angel of the North, Miss Cheryl Cole, who will no doubt be putting her X Factor protégées to shame with an energetic dance routine and record-perfect vocal delivery (followed by a short, breathless speech as she drips saccharine and beads of sweat onto the stage). As well , we're promised Lily Allen and Jay-Z, and therefore hopefully at least a fleeting glimpse of the infinitely more interesting Beyonce. Robbie Williams is set to receive the ‘Outstanding Contribution to Music' award, so we can have fun trying to guess how much sleep he must have lost to get his unfocussed pupils so dilated, and there will be a download available the day after the show of a live performance of Florence and the Machine's dubious cover of "You Got the Love'' mashed with Dizzee Rascal's "Dirtee Cash" which will no doubt make lots of money for the BRIT Trust charity. We are also promised that Kasabian, Lady Gaga and the fantastically insipid, lubed-up, reality Chippendollies JLS will take centre stage. Non-music related highlights will include a special birthday message from Prince Harry, who is described on the BRITs' website as a "keen music lover", as well as "dancers galore, pyro-mania and never seen before feats of technology to keep guests gripped to their seats and viewers glued to their screens"—well, I guess that beats sitting cross-legged in a darkened cupboard, weeping softly whilst mentally wrestling with humankind's impending demise.

As we're caring, conscientious type folk at SoundProof, we know that you guys are probably as excited as we are about following every minute detail of the ceremony as it happens, so why not join us starting at 8pm (GMT) on Tuesday as we share our live commentary of the BRIT Awards 2010 with Mastercard (don't forget Mastercard, mustn't forget Mastercard) from Earls Court Arena. Follow us on Twitter for instant updates of bite-sized 140-word mind-vomit or join us right here to see what we really think of Gaga's no doubt innovative, yet hopefully bordering on the psychotic, outfit and whether or not JLS are marginally less interesting than the carpet.

All night, we'll be posting our live commentary below. Just hit refresh to update our 20 most recent tweets, or let the page reload automatically.
