Live: Die Mannequin
METROPOLIS – MARCH 12 - by Hollie Stevens-Cashion -

I have to be honest, when I found out that the band I was going to see was opening for Sum 41, I was somewhat hesitant. Having never been a Sum fan, I was slightly scared to see what kind of band would be affiliated with the boys from Ajax. "Who's here for Die Mannequin? NO ONE!" yelled Die Mannequin lead singer Care Failure — my attitude slowly shifted from hesitant to intrigue.

Die Mannequin rocked the Metropolis with their sweet sounding punk rock. Whether she was on her knees wailing on her guitar or jumping off the stage to interact with the crowd, it was impossible for anyone to keep their eyes and ears off of Failure.

Playing a couple of new songs along with a few crowd favorites, Die Mannequin kept the audience entertained and jumping in one place, arms waving in the air. While suffering from some minor technical difficulties, drummer Pat M. (a.k.a. Ghostwolf) tossed free t-shirts into the crowd and Failure threw bottles of water to the thirsty teens anxiously waiting for Sum 41 to take the stage.

By the end of their set, it was clear that the crowd forgot who they were really there to see, as they chanted "Die Mannequin" while the band was leaving the stage. It doesn't matter if people came to see them or not, Die Mannequin won over the crowd with their music. They play with power and passion. It's clear that they love doing what they do and, after they left the stage, it was even more obvious that everyone there loved it too. Mark my words, this opening act will soon be the band music fans go to the show to see.
