NXNE Live: The Ceremonial Snips ANNEX WRECK ROOM - JUNE 7 You gotta respect any band that'll play as hard as the Snips do — even when their audience is only about 20 strong. Blame it on their 8 p.m. Thursday timeslot. But despite a crowd only slightly larger than the band itself (the Snips require a full seven members to create their trumpet-infused brand of psychotic hardcore), there was no restraint as vocalist Mike Podio pummeled those brave few into whimpering submission. Drawing primarily from their latest release, Check Your Audio, it was 40 solid minutes of intense anger therapy, excluding occasional sound fuck-ups and incongruent shout outs to someone's mother drinking determinedly at the bar. It was blown eardrums and rattled psyches all around after this one.
