CMW Live: Psychotic 4
THE REVERB - MAR. 9 - by James Sandham -

Anyone who thinks they're too good for hair metal should eat a dick and then go check Montreal-based cock rockers Psychotic 4: they won't just change your mind, they'll blow it.

I wandered in on them completely unwittingly on Friday night and my life hasn't been the same since. Like: I'm growing my hair long and I've already torn the sleeves off every shirt I own — even the collared ones — 'cause fuck it, I'm ready to rock out, and on Friday night I was taught by the best.

Psychotic 4 delivered blast after paint-peeling blast of the most intense hair metal known on earth, with an energy and hair-spinning synchronicity I thought only existed in rock 'n' roll myth. Half-way between Mick Jagger and Scott Weiland, but with way better hair, Psychotic's frontman, Diamond Dean, swaggered around the stage with a level of confidence that dwarfed his slight physical stature. He was flanked by Hollywood Jimmy J. on lead guitar, Dave Ablaze and his totally permed out hair on shred guitar, and PJ Stagger on bass (with Ben holding down drums in back).

These guys are so hardcore I don't even think they could hold day jobs. They're living the life, man. And they totally cranked it to 11.
